Entrepreneur and c0-founder of Roc-a-Fella Records,  Dame Dash recently announced a youth film competition while at an event at the Denzel Washington School of the Arts (DWSA) in Mount Vernon, NY.  While there, he also screened his most film trailer for students.  These days Dame is a full-time filmmaker, and his latest venture is a streaming service platform.  So the Dame Dash youth film festival makes perfect sense.

Dame Dash announced the youth film competition while visiting DWSA on Tuesday, October 17th.  His film,  The Prince of Detroit., is about the first Black millionaire family in the healthcare field. The film stars Columbus Short, Torrei Hart and Faizon Love.

Dash was joined by Dr. Dennis B. McKesey, founder and CEO of Off School Grounds, and Raquel M. Horn, author and Dash’s wife,”

The Mayor of Mount Vernon, Shawyn Patterson-Howard, was also on hand and posted a video on her Instagram with Dame Dash announcing youth film competition details.

The Dame Dash Youth Film Festival will be a 14-week training that teaches students how to create their own content, create their own movies and learn about the film making business.

Dame Dash’ Youth Film Festival will have students compete against each other by creating 10-to-15- minute short films. The winner will be announced at the end of the year and be rewarded with having their film streamed on Dash’s streaming service, America Nu Network, and Tubi, with a chance to monetize their film’s streams.

According to America Nu Network website, they are more than a streaming service. “[America Nu Network] is a cultural movement that celebrates realness and diverse experiences and contributions, fostering a sense of unity and pride among its users and supporters.”
