
Securing the right amount of funding isn’t easy, but there are still lots of hidden opportunities out there. Here, I created a guide listing the Top 7 September 2025 Grants in New York offering support for community projects, nonprofits, and local organizations.
ABNY Foundation
The ABNY Foundation Applications are now Open, and the deadline to submit is September 30, 2025. This foundation supports NYC nonprofits through Strengthening Economic Opportunity and Livability. Grants range from $5,000 to $10,000 for initiatives in workforce development, safe communities, and small business support. They are looking for NYC-based 501(c)(3) nonprofits with 50 or fewer employees, and only Grantees may receive awards for up to three consecutive years, then must wait one year before reapplying. For-profit organizations are not eligible for grant awards.
Northern New York Community Foundation
Northern New York Community Foundation is open as of August 1st and will finalize its applications on September 19, 2025 (Applications are reviewed quarterly). They offer funding to 501(c)(3) nonprofits in Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties. Grants support projects in human services, health, arts, education, environment, and community development. Winners get $1,000 to $10,000.
Urban Farms & Community Gardens Grant Program
Urban Farms & Community Gardens Grant Program applications are finally open and due on September 5, 2025. They offer $2.5 million to support urban farms, school gardens, and community gardens that boost food resiliency and access. Lastly, Eligible applicants include not-for-profit organizations, not-for-profit educational institutions, municipal government entities, and Indian tribal organizations.
NYS HOME
NYS Home Program is currently open and will close on September 11, 2025. They offer $15 million in funding to support housing rehabilitation, manufactured housing replacement, homebuyer down payment assistance, and tenant-based rental assistance. Eligible applicants include local governments, nonprofits, and public housing authorities with at least one year of relevant housing services experience. More details about eligibility on their site.
LMCC’s Manhattan Arts
The LMCC’s Manhattan Arts applications are now LIVE, and the deadline is September 16, 2025. This program offers grants between $4,000 and $16,000 to Manhattan-based artists, arts groups, and community organizations for public arts projects. They are looking for programs that include Creative Engagement, Creative Learning, and UMEZ Arts Engagement, supporting work in all disciplines.
Impact 100 NYC
While not yet open, Impact 100 NYC will welcome new applications starting September 2025. This opportunity awards a total of $100,000 to local nonprofits for innovative projects that address unmet needs, serve underserved populations, and raise the profile of lesser-known initiatives. They want a NYC-based 501(c)(3) public charity for at least 36 months, with an annual budget between $500,000 and $5 million, and a submission of three years of CPA-audited or reviewed financial statements and 990s.
Grown & Certified Cooperative Marketing Program
Grown & Certified Cooperative Marketing Program applications are now available, and the open rolling application ends September 30, 2026. There’s a total of $500,000 in funding available, but Funding requests will not exceed $10,000. They are looking for eligible agricultural producers, producer cooperatives, agricultural associations, or retailers, either as a farm, producer, processor, or strategic partner, who currently participate in the NYS G&C program, but also as new enrollees into the program.
